This list is sponsored by the Conchologists of America (COA), an international organization of professionals and non-professionals interested in the beauty of shells, their scientific aspects and the collecting and preservation of mollusks. Members include novice, as well as advanced collectors, scientists and shell dealers from around the world. The list is intended to serve as a forum for informal discussions of molluscan biology, taxonomy, natural history, evolution, conservation, and collection-related subjects. Notices of meetings, symposia, literature, software or any other relevant topics may be posted to this list.

CONCH-L is hosted by the University of Georgia. The University of Georgia prohibits the use of its computing resources for commercial purposes. Explicit advertisements or business solicitations are not be permitted; such commerce should be conducted by email between interested individuals.

To subscribe to the list, please send an email message to: listserv@listserv.uga.edu.

Leave the subject line blank.
The first line of text in the BODY of the email message must be:
subscribe CONCH-L Your Full Name

You will receive a long message from the computer explaining how to send a confirmation that you wish to join the list group. This message will have a SUBJECT line that looks something like "Command confirmation request (661DD7)". When you send a REPLY (not a new message) to the computer it will include this subject line (Re: Command confirmation request (661DD7)), which refers to your original request. In the BODY of your reply message send the command:

ok
This is how the computer knows you really do want to be a subscriber to the list.

You will be notified by the computer that you have been add to the list.

> ok
Confirming:
> SUBSCRIBE CONCH-L your name
You have been added to the CONCH-L list.

You will also receive a 'Welcome' message with more information on the list and how to learn more about the commands you can use with your subscription:

"Welcome to CONCH-L:

..............Please save this message"

Please save the 'Welcome' message as a reference.

To post to CONCH-L after you have subscribed, just send email to:

CONCH-L@LISTSERV.UGA.EDU
Your message will be distributed to all subscribers of the list.

To leave the list send the command "SIGNOFF CONCH-L" (without the quotation marks) in the body of an e-mail post to the listserv address:
